if you are fine with getting a mutt than why dont you go to you locale shelter or petfinder.com
reputable breeders dont breed mutts.
BYBs do, and if you want to buy from a BYB than you should be vary rich or you wont be able to pay for all the medicle bills that you are going to have to pay for your sick lil puppy. But seriously! if you are soooo keene on getting a mutt just go to petfinder.com! gosh! there are so many puppies in shelters and people who are looking for mutts dont even think to look at the shelter! what is the world coming to??

There really aren't any 'reputable' breeders for a mixed breed.
Have you considered looking on Petfinder.com to see if there are any Rat Terrier/Chihuahua crosses available to adopt?

you can also contact rat terrier and chihuahua rescues in your area. they usually take in mixes. maybe they'll have one you're looking for.

There are two types,
1. Olde English
2. American Pride
Both well established, but costly.

Why would you pay all that money for a mixed breed? Adopt.

its because it is not a breed. it is what any unrecognized cross is, a mongrel or mutt.
i suggest you stick to the tried n true, and get a purebred .
hybrid vigor is a myth and you cannot guarantee what any cross will be like, temperament wise. you may end up with a cute dog who aspires to be cujo, or a butt ugly dog with severe health problems.

No good breeder would intentionally cross breeds, and anyone who does shouldn't be supported. The purpose of responsible breeding is to improve the breed, not come up with these so-called "designer dogs". Please don't go to a "breeder". There are lots of Chihuahua mixes in need of a good home, and you may just find a Rat Terrier/Chihuahua mix in your area.

1. Why combine these two breeds?
2. Just get a toy rat terrier. It will have a better disposition, be healthier, more sociable, and stronger/less fragile than anything with chihuahua in it.
3. I can't think of a single breeder who mixes these two breeds. Any who does is not reputable and should be avoided.
4. If you can't find a toy rat terrier or that is still too big for your desires, than get a toy fox terrier. Looks identical to a rat terrier but doesn't have the same nose (ie: sense of smell and prey drive) and isn't quite as sturdy.
Chihuahuas can be fine dogs for those who like them. But you should know that they tend to not get along with other dogs, are often difficult to house train and tend to be yappy. I personally feel that the temperament on a TFT or Rattie is better for the vast majority of owners.

I own a rat terrier, I know a breeder who owns a toy fox terrier, I know a number of chihuahua owners.

You just made that silly name up, didn't you?
A mutt is a mutt is a mutt - and a mix is a mutt.
If you want a chi/terrier mix, search on Petfinder.com or a chi breed rescue, bet you find one.
Hope there are no breeders for this mix, because no one should be breeding mutts on purpose, there are so many of them in kill shelters because there aren't enough homes for the once bred by accident or carelessness.

Since it is a mixed breed there is now way to predict 100% how each one will turn out, some may be more like Chihuahuas and some may be more like Rat Terrier.
If the web site that you saw them on promoted then as a "breed" that steer clear of it.
Anyone who intentionally breeds mutts is either a puppy mill or back yard breeder who is just trying to cash in on this "designer dog fad". The best place to get a dog of this mix would be at an animal shelter. Nowhere else.
Heres a good place to look. :0)
