My family is getting a Jack Russll Terrier. My mom says I need to look up stuff about them.Does any one know any thing about a Jack Russell Terrier?
They're fox hunters. They are very intelligent, athletic, and they don't scare easy. They tend to get bored fast, so they make their own fun.
They're stubborn, so you have to be a little stern with them for that.

They are great little dogs. Very feisty and enjoy hearing their own voice. They are hunters and love hunting small things like rats etc. Not afraid of anything and usually don't back down from anything. All round fun dogs to own. You will enjoy your new dog

Great family dogs, love kids and other pets. But they are natural hunters. This means they don't like to be alone, they will try VERY hard to get out of a fenced yard. (Mine can climb trees) Crate train as soon as you bring it home to help save the furniture! They need a lot of exercise and they need to be mentally challenged or they get board. They could spend hours playing fetch, so invest in a few good rubber balls (not tennis it recs their teeth). Also be aware of their leg problems and some can have back problems typically the short legged breed.

Well to start off with their are two types of jack Russell's. One is the more common Jack Russell terrier and the other is the Parsons Russell terrier. They are very lively, strong-willed, territorial and very energetic. They chase most things that move e.g cats, rats, birds and if you're unlucky sheep and horses/cattle. On the upside they're very affectionate and do like a rough game but will not tolerate very small children who could hurt them. They are very loyal but at the same time fearless so getting to listen can be a problem as they have 'selective hearing' so you have to be Very firm with them because if you give them an inch they will try to take a mile!
So they are hard to get to listen to you but are smart so learn quickly and once bond is built rewards are immense.
Also it depends like i said earlier if you get a jack russell or parsons russell, the only real difference being that parsons are a bit larger and slightly more friendly with other dogs.
So good luck on your choice but either way it will be the right one.

You'll find 100% accurate information on the Jack Russell Terrier Club of America's website. http://www.jrtca.com
I don't suggest dogbreedinfo.com. Its information about Jrts is not completely true.

originally bred to hunt rabbits and follow them into their burrows, so they are very inquisitive about dark little corners and holes and love to dig!
full of energy, and need lots of play
friendly but can be snappy when startled so not 100% trustworthy with kids
the most popular dog in urban australia where I come from
very intelligent and quick to learn how to manipulate their owner lol
