Training Jack Russells

Are Jack Russell Terriers known for staring alot?

I have a 7 month old dog whom I believe is a Italian greyhound/JRT mix. I've thought that for a while. But I notice her staring at people a lot. Is that a JRT trait? Someone said she reminds them of Eddie from Frasier.

Jack russell terriers are about one the best dogs you can have. I had one and now I have 8 goldens. They are the smartest dogs I have ever seen.

I haven't known them to stare enough to raise concern or interest. However, they're a very intelligent breed. Obedience and intelligence don't coincide. When I say they are intelligent, I refer to their capacity to think independently. This consciousness of mind may be the cause of your dog's staring. She's probably a very bright girl :)

Perhaps its more an Italian Greyhound thing, as they were bred for sight. I've only known JRTs to stare when they see something REALLY interesting like a rat or a mouse that they are about to spring on!

My JRT does all sorts of odd things like that. I once heard they are seeing 'grimlins' so yes, it is normal. Mine also eats rocks. (chews on them) He has his favorite and everything. Weird little dude.
