Training Jack Russells

Is an hours walk a day enough exercise for a jack russel?

Because of the selfishness of other family members my JRT can only get an hours walk a day from me. (i have tried to tell them to walk her) She is treated right and we all lover to to bits so please don't say get her re-homed etc. I know that jack russels need lots of exercise but is an hour enough for her?
and yes, her walks are mainly off the lead so she has a good run.

As she's off the lead she should be able to get all the exercise she needs in a hour.

is she off the lead and can run?

Most JRs will take all the exercise they can get, but an hour will be fine!!many get less and are OK.

Yes that is plenty and wonderful….I know of so many people who has never took their dog for a walk. They think having a big yard is enough.

Good on you. My terrier has two half hour walks a day and lots of time in the garden inbetween and that seems to keep him happy. We always take him on long walks at weekends for him (and us) to get some serious exercise.
He is lucky to have you, so many people never walk their dogs which is so cruel, not to mention LAZY.

That's all I ever gave my JR but, if he escaped, as he often did, he could be gone for 4 hours chasing rabbits in the nearby fields and he'd still be ready for his hour long walk the next day.

Jack Russells never tire, they will go on until they drop, but I think an hour is enough for her really. Does she seem contented with that or is she restless and wanting to go for longer? If you have a large enough garden then she'll probably be happy to forage around out there for some part of the day.
They love to chase a ball so perhaps you could ask the family if they could throw a ball for her every now and again. It would only take 10 minutes or so out of their day.

My JR lived for 17 years and he could still outrun my Goldens on a walk up to a few months before he died. He was such a little rascal but very affectionate and I miss him dearly.

Would have thought that an hour is enough, try to give her mental stimulation as well.
