Yes, like any dogs really. I have a jack russell.. he's fine.. but once or twice he does snap at my cat… maybe it's because when he's eating or when my cat scratches him or hurts his bad tooth :S

If bought as a pup into a home where an older cat already dwells it will learn it's place in the pecking order. Any other cat would be advised to climb high trees.

The dog's prey drive, as a terrier, is still a strong one, so unless a puppy J.R is raised with a cat, and always supervised when they are together, I wouldn't recommend leaving them alone together;
HOWEVER, each dog and cat is an individual, so, your JR may be peachy-keen with a cat.
