She's a pretty little eight month old wire-haired Jack Russell. She's mainly white with a couple of black and tan splodges. She's currently called Missy but I really don't like that name and she's young enough for me to change it, although I'll need something similar sounding. Has anyone got any bright ideas please?
what was the name of rhe rescue center maybe you can use some part of that name ? I'm sure they would appreciate some kind of acknowledgment for you naming her something that reflects their service's and all the care and time that they put into this kind of helpful services?

I got my pup from a resuce home, didn't like the name that much either but I kept it because it was what she was used to.
I think you should keep it.

Let her personality develop with you a little more. When I got my dog it took me almost a month to figure out what to name her. It drove my vet crazy since we were going every week or so for her deworming and her puppy series, but it was worth the wait!

Her name should come to you with her personality…
But i've had a
Molly, MiMi, Milly….
I have changed the name on 2 of my dogs to completely different things at 18mths & 11 mths as neither responded to the names they had…. (Tara to Pumpkin, Darcey to Shaddow)
It just depends on if they will respond to current/ new name if it's called!!!

Here's how I picked my pup's name when I got her from the shelter…her fur was a dark golden color since she was part chow and park shepard….I named her Honey because of her fur color
As long as you pick something with 2 syllables (sp) she'll respond if you change it quickly.

Is there any reason why the new name needs to be similar sounding?
My terrier (same colour & markings to yours) gets called by 4 names and he comes to all of them, not all at once of course because that would be silly and they are not similar sounding.
His real name is Claude but he also responds to Angel, Johnny and Son.
So if you have a name in mind that is completely different sounding but you didn't think it would stick just go for it because it will.
My friend rescued a year old collie named Purdi from a shelter just 3 weeks ago and renamed it Mollie. It responds all the time to it's new name.
How about Splodge or Spirit? Spirit because she's white.
Good luck with the re-naming and wishing you all the joys that goes with owning a terrrier. They are true characters.
