Training Jack Russells

Gonna miss Jack…question for rescuers and foster parents?

I rescued Jack 2 weeks ago from certain death at the hands of a horrible owner. I found him a great new home and he leaves tomorrow. I'm already missing him and I know I'll cry when I bring him to his new owners. I know my dog Casey is going to miss him too. Do other foster parents and rescuers cry too? I don't want to look like a nut case.

All the time, but they are tears of joy. Your Jack has found his forever home, what is better than that?

Lots of foster parents in our group cry on those really special cases. I tear up occasionally, especially on the dogs that were treated badly, or that were so so scared.

It's best to try and hold your emotions until you can hand the dog off. Once you are back in the car, or once the new owners leave, get it out.

Or, get out what you can before the new owners come.

Pay extra attention to Casey - it's wonderful that you will have each other for support!

Thank you for saving a life that someone else threw away. The world needs more of you and less of http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AvuiEIo6elk8CTgvYAl638LL7BR.;_ylv=3?qid=20080623162021AAkqVWE these types of people.

Yes we all cry. We wouldn't do what we do if we didn't care about the animals we are saving. It's natural to get attached. I hope Jack's new family sends you pictures and updates frequently and that they let you visit. I always like that. But yes, you cry with each and every one and it's perfectly normal.

I'd give you a big HUG if I could reach all the way over to Alabama from Arizona. You deserve it!!! KUDOS to you for being his savior and helping him. You definitely have shown him what true love is and believe me he will not forget you. Watch the attached video clip and you will see what I mean. Animals are so smart.

Your not a nut case, if you love animals, you get attached, when I rescue a dog once they walk in the door I know their there for the rest of their lives, what your doing is (I think) is more important than rescue, you can foster & find allot more good homes for these pets, when we rescue we can't save as many as you can, and I'd cry too, and you'll probably cry again, it just means you care, thank you

You can't help but be sad when a loved one leaves, be it a two legged or four legged loved one. Every creature who comes into your life has an impact on it, either in a positive or negative way. When you get attached to a furry friend, especially when you rescue it and rehabilitate it, you are bound to feel sorrow when he departs, but you should feel joy too knowing you did the best you could in securing that precious animal a better home. You can cry tears of joy too and be very proud of your accomplishments. God bless you!

Yes, it's hard to say good bye to an animal. Yet at the same time it's great to see that they are going to a good home. It's hard knowing that you may never see that animal again.
