Training Jack Russells

my jack russell pups colour?

my jack russell pup is a light tan colour all over with a black stripe down his back and a black tail. he also has a black snout. hes very cute i just wondered if this was a normal colouring for a jack russell as they r usually white with patches arent they? thanks

Jack Russell is not a 'breed' as defined by the kennel club. Consequently there is a lot of variation in size, coat length, and colour. Black and tan are common additions to white, but there are no rules as there is no breed standard. The Parson Russell terrier is a recognised breed, and is not the same as a Jack Russell. They pretty much all look like Eddie from the TV show Frasier. I think you probably do have a 'pure' Jack Russell but this is not a breed in itself. It doesn't matter though- Jack Russells are great!

I have a jack russell, and I'm pretty sure that the breed standard requires at least 50% white coloring. Your pup could be a terrier mix.

Probably a mix or maybe some sort of recessive gene.

yes you are correct, it is more than likely you have a cross bred pup, ask the owners if they have any paperwork for the parents as they will have if they are pure bred (pedigree)
