Training Jack Russells

Has anyone got any tips on how to toilet train a miniature jack russel pup?

She is 11 weeks, 12 on saturday. And is nice natured bu chews like all puppies.

I was taught this by a prison dog handler.
No1 you do not see dog crap on the prison wing.
No2 So i have been told
every time your dog does either, outside, praise is the main thing, but also say good boy/girl empty and keep saying empty to your dog every time.
soon you will tell the dog to empty and he will, both my dogs do it on command,
If its raining its very helpful or even late at night when you want to go to bed,
This really does work well, when he eats watch how long on average it takes for him to want to go.
then feed him at set times, and you know in so many hours he will want to go, the very 1st time he empties on command give lots of praise and dance around and make a fool of yourself.
If he has eaten and only goes for a pee, send him back with the words empty and he will soon know he has to do both.
good luck

Puppies should be taken out at least once every two hours (or within a half hour after eating or drinking) and guided to the same spot where they can smell having relieved themselves before. Immediately after they “do their business,” they should be praised lavishly in a high-pitched, excited voice. Crate training does not speed up the housebreaking process: Puppies do not develop full bladder control before 6 months of age and are physically incapable of “holding it” for very long.

First of all, what is a miniature jack russel?
    Next, try crate training:

Puppies chew. That's what they do. You need to teach him now what is acceptable behaviour and what is not. If he bites during playtime, simply yelp loudly (as his littermate would do if he bit them), stand up and walk away. Ignoring your dog is the worst punishment you can inflict upon him (even negative attention is still attention). When he calms down, play can resume. The key here is CONSISTENCY - you must do this every time he puts his mouth on you. Soon he will learn biting and nipping means no more play.

Add: all I can hope is that you did not pay good money for this so-called 'miniature jack russel'. There's no such thing. There is a standard sized Jack Russel Terrier and anyone telling you differently has sold you a runt.

Presumably she's a short legged Jack Russell (there is no such thing as a miniature JR).
Toilet training is the same for any breed, although some take longer than others. Be patient and consistent. Take her out at least every couple of hours - take her out, don't just put her outside on her own. When she does perform outside praise her to the skies. Take her out as soon as she wakes up, after she's been fed and when she's been playing. When she does make a mistake indoors, don't tell her off, just put her out of the room and clear it up making sure you get rid of every trace of the smell or she'll keep going back to that spot. At night, either put her in a crate or barricade off part of a kitchen or utility room. Dogs don't like to mess their sleeping area, so make the space as small as possible. Put her bed in one end & cover the rest with newspapers. Expect it to take quite a bit longer for her to be clean at night, pups simply can't hold it at night.
Don't bother using puppy pads or paper during the day - that's just training a pup that it's OK to mess indoors, then you have to retrain her that it's NOT OK.
Good Luck with your pup - you'll have your hands full!

Best way is to use a crate/cage. Use the crate as the pups bed. Put her in there to sleep and as soon as she wakes up put her straight outside, when she has done something praise her straight away and even give her a treat. Also put her out after she has eaten, this is also a time that she will want to go.

If you catch her doing anything in the house say 'NO' firmly and put her straight out side and again praise her. If she has done something in the house and you didn't see her doing it, don't say anything and just clean it up. You'll know when she's ready to do something, she'll start sniffing and circling, that's the time to put straight out.

She will soon learn where she gets the parise and treats.

I used the praise and treat method on my dog who was a rescue, he was completely unhouse trained when I had him when he was 10months old. I couldn't use the crate as it just freaked him out being closed in, I think it reminded him of his time in rescue kennels. It only took me about a month to get him completely house trained, now he sits by the back door when he wants to go out, then goes straight to his treat tin when he comes back in lol.
