Training Jack Russells

will these puppies work together? - westie and jack russell?

I want to buy two puppies to go in my new apt. - a white westie and a jack russell. someone told me to buy the puppy WITH the jack cuz bringin one in later won't work out - is that true? and will these two breeds get along? (if ur not familiar please "google" them first). thanks

There is no reason why any 2 dogs wont get on providing they are introduced and socialized properly. A word of warning if you have never had a dog before these 2 breeds perhaps are not the best idea - they are both "terrier" breeds which can mean they are extremely strong willed and do require a dedicated owner to laydown the rules initially and enforce them fairly including training classes, correct socialisation etc. They will continually try to push the boundaries you have set. Both breeds can be very excitable but more importantly snappy. Also the westie's are prone to skin conditions eg eczema they can be extremely frustating to treat and rarely curable therefore continually costly. The skin problems tend to be largely due to allergies to food types, pollens, dust mites etc - all the things you can't take away!
I am a vet nurse and see very few westie's that dont have bad skin make sure you get good insurance. But think carefully and do you really need 2 puppies at the same time? if you just had 1 it is more likely to develop a good relationship with you. Hope it helps

well, they're both very energetic dogs, so as long as they are introduced at a young age and your apartment has a lot of room, and you have plenty of time for them, yes, then they should be find.

    hope this helps.

JRTs are very dog aggressive…so yes, you would need to get them together…and have them fixed as soon as possible, so they don't get agressive with eachother. I hope you have done lots of research on JRTs, because they are a real handful!!
