the puppies were moving about quite actively but in the last 12 hours i havnt felt them at all is this normal
Would call a vet - but space could be very tight in their now as their size increases close to their due date so this may inhibit movement.

Honestly, this is no place to ask a question like that. If the puppies haven't moved in the last twelve hours, something is most likely wrong. Call your veterinarian, I can't imagine there would be much hesitation on your part due to the cost of the visit. Twelve puppies you said.

Yes, it is normal. Human babies slow and stop moving just before birth, too.
Edit
If you are concerned call your vet or a breeder with more experience.

You want to make sure there is not any abnormal discharge coming from the bitches vagina. Abnormal meaning green or yellowish. If there is, that is a bad sign that one or all pups are dead, or the the placenta has detached.
If she is all healthy then she will give birth approx 63 days after ovulation, not conception. You will know when she is ready because she will "talk" to you with body language.
She will be ency, possibly try to dig and burrow, walk in and out of the house, etc… listen and let her do what she need to.
