She is 8 years old. Iv'e asked the vet about it but they told me that if she has never had puppies it sometimes happens and then goes away. She now has milk in her breasts all the time. Is something really wrong with her?
Yes ,she's still cycling(going into heat)
I'll tell you some thing:she's at very big risk of getting pyometra.Look it up on the web.
She should have been spayed a long time ago.Females that were never spayed or ever had puppies eventually get a very bad infection of the uterus.Sometimes you will see a dark and smelly pus leaking from underneath. If you see this run do not walk to the nearest Vet.It's very life-threatening.I would consult my vet any way about this even if she' not showing signs of pyometra.

It is called a phantom or a pseudo pregnancy. Has she been spayed?

Are there any other female dogs in your home? Sometimes when you have other females in your home they will both go through the same cycles. Same is true for human women who live together, their cycles run the same.

Alot of times, with older dogs, especially if they have never had a litter, they will go thru "false pregnancy". Their body will produce the milk, they will do the whole "nesting" thing, and they will take a stuffed animal and treat it like it is their baby. It will go away on its own, just be patient. Another way of handling this is to get your pet fixed.
Hope all goes well for you

Sometimes when something triggers the "mothering" instinct, such as puppies with a mom, or kittens, or even chicks, their bodies turn onto "mother mode" and want to nurture these babies, and can produce milk from out of the blue.
