We may be getting a pup that is a hybrid of these breeds. If you have experience with this breed, I'd love to know a bit about your experience. We already have a male (neutered) basset hound that is 3 years old.

well.. its not a "hybrid" for one.. a hybrid animal is the result of breeding 2 different species. All breeds of dog are the same specie.. each breed has specific traits that were selectivly bred for.
Since its a mutt.. its hard to say what this dog will be like.. there are not guarantees with mixes on size, coat type, temperment, color, health, etc.
Your best bet is to research both breeds.. as this dog could have traits of either one.

No,but my guess is that it would be insane.

they are super hyper. Both breeds as purebreds are high energy and the mix is even more so. Personally IMHO these hybrids are just a way to get the general public to pay MORE money for what is essentially a mutt by giving a cute name, ie: morkie, chorkie or by using the term hybrid or designer breed etc… And, bassets are much slower in general and that mix (or even indiv. breed of dog) might be too much for your current dog.

I know both breeds and I would say that a mix of the two could only be described as a Tasmanian Devil
GOOD LUCK
