The problem is that we bought a dog 1 year ago. is a Jack Rousell. He is adorable , but he is very, very hyper active. He jumps every where and he run around the apartment so so fast. Can somebody have a recomendation .
Get him another one, we have two but unfortuneatley one is very mellow and this is very uncommon. Today we took them out to a friends house out in the country so they could run and run. Most Jack have lots of energy they also need lots of toys and bone to chew just be patient they are very smart dogs you will get many years of enjoyment and love from Spyke.

Jack Russell Terriers are, as a breed, very energetic dogs. being limited to an apartment doesn't make things any better. Long, brisk walks and/or extended periods of outdoor running/play is about the only thing that calms them — and then only briefly!

you got a Jack Russel and then are surprised that he is hyper??? didnt you research the breed?
Jack Russell Terriers are NOT classic apartment dogs - just becuase you see them on TV in an apartement doesnt mean this is how they normally are.
Terriers in general are very active, and JRT's are no exception - your dog needs more activity and mental activity is very important (agility and games) not just going for the occassional walk….
there is nothing you can do to control this dog, obedience lessens will help but only if you have the time to spend - otherwise I suggest contacting who you got him from and returning him (or contact a JRT rescue club)

Neuter your dog after 6 months of age….its should help some. I have a Rat Terier and terriers are a very active breed. He will calm a little as he ages but not much. He needs a large fenced yard to run freely so he stays happy. If you cannot provide this for him, you may want to find him a new home. They are a very intelligent and fun breed so try to hang on to him if you can provide him what he needs…activity every day…not just sometimes and he will love you forever. They do not make good apartment dogs. Also, terriers are prown to many ear infections so if you see him shaking or scratching his ears take him to the vet asap.

I had a bichon that was very hyper. I took him to the vet and he put my bichon on valium. It helps some, but he was still hyper. I finally gave them to a young couple, hoping that they might have more energy to keep up with him. It was a shame too, because this dog could do tricks and was very intelligent. However, he got on my last nerve. There are other medications you can get for your dog from pet websites. Try http://www.1800petfinder.com

Playing and going for walks will be your best bet. They do have alot of energy and need to let it out. This is a good way to bond with your fur kid.
