Training Jack Russells

Is it weird that I like to cook for my dog Jack?

I started out by giving him leftovers, but then I started cooking an extra serving for my Jack. Obviously, I don't make him sit at the dinner table with me or do anything weird like that.
I was just wondering if anyone else likes to cook for their babies like this? Or if it is weird to cook for a dog?

My mother-in-law used to cook bacon for her chihuahua Chrissy. When that one died of a heart condition, she cooked whole chickens for the next one, on the theory that chicken was healthier than bacon. As long as you debone your chickens before you feed 'em to your doggy so he won't get the bones stuck in his little throat, I'm sure he'll appreciate all that attention. And it's no fun cooking just for yourself, is it? So what's the harm? I talk to my doggies all day long. They don't talk back, but I enjoy saying silly things to them anyway. What's the point of having a pet if you have to be SANE with 'em all the time!?

so you love your dog alot. As long as you aren't cooking things that are bad for him. Maybe limit it to like once a week and give him bland things without alot of seasoning or he could get really sick.

I think it is perfectly normal, there are recipes online specifically designed for dogs. I think you would enjoy them. They have everything from dinners to treats.

if youre not careful he'll start to not eat his dog food. he'll get too spoiled. (and fat) maybe some leftover meat in his dish once in a while. but not a whole serving. i love to make my dog happy too, but i dont like to spoil her too much. hope this helps

Defianatly not weird. I do the same thing. Always make sure there is enough to give to my dog too! one of his favorite foods though is french fries at mcdonalds, so when we go there (unfortunately for him, not too often) I always get him an order of small fries!! lol I don't think you're weird. It just shows you love him as your family.

Cooking for your dog is a great idea and not weird at all (especially with the dog food recall a while back), but you don't want to cook the same food for him that you would eat. For example if you are cooking meat for him, you need to boil it and not bake, broil or fry it. You also need to make sure that he has the nutrients that he needs. There are a ton of dog recipes out on the web so do your research to make sure that the meals you are cooking for him provide him with what he needs in order to keep him healthy.

    Good Luck,

I love cooking for my dog! :) But it's a lot better to find dog food recipes rather than giving her the same thing you are eating because some of the things that we eat aren't good for them.

Kind of weird. But I'm sure that when you marry one day you'll be a great Master.
