Training Jack Russells

will my jack russell terriers ears stand up when she gets older?

i have a jrt puppy named bella. she is my first jack russell and her ears look weird. will they stand up when she gets older?

i have a one year old jack i love him to death when we first got him he had both ears down but than like a month later they both shot straight up everyone said it was normal some jacks ears go up.Now that he's a year it's final he has one ear up and one down it looks really cute though i wouldnt have it any other way.so your jacks ears might go down or you might have 1 up and 1 down either way she's still a jack and you'll love her either way : )

How much could or should i sell purebred jack russell terriers for. They are sent from ireland.?

I am thinking of breeding dogs. My friend from ireland said he breeds them and he'll ship them to me and I can sell them. I was looking at other breeders prices and some were $1900. This is a purebred Jack from Ireland, how much should the pups go for.

PS: I'll have only 2 or 3 at a time.

What do you mean "you'll only have two or three at a time?" You're going to somehow regulate how many puppies a dog has?

Or you're going to buy dogs from your friend and sell them here. People are stupid, but I don't know how many are stupid enough to pay more for an "irish" psycho insane active dog that will be thrown into a shelter before it turns two.

Do Jack Russell Terriers come in any colors other than white?

I am planning to buy a Jack Russell, but I want to know if there are any brown or black ones, because the white hairs show up so much on clothing.

Hi Kimmer,

It doesn't sound like you are to the point of buying a JRT yet (more correctly, a PRT).

The breed standard states: "Color
White, white with black or tan markings, or a combination of these, tri-color. Colors are clear. As long as the terrier is predominantly white, moderate body markings are not to be faulted. Grizzle is acceptable and should not be confused with brindle. Disqualification: Brindle markings."

This is information that's there on the AKC page and the PRT parent club pages.

I urge you to do more research on the breed - I'm not sure you've found the best sources yet or really really researched. They are great dogs, but so many end up in shelters because people aren't ready for their fierceness, energy levels, their mischievous, or their family needs.

http://prtaa.org/index.php?option=com_frontpage&Itemid=1 is the parent breed club page - tons of info on the breed. GL 2 U

Are all Jack Russell Terriers constant whiners?

One of my friends has a male 8 yr old Jack Russell Terrier. He's fit and healthy, has plenty of attention from his family, and is very obedient, but he whines ALL the time. He whines when he plays inside and out, when anyone is eating, when he goes for walks, whenever anyone is giving him any sort of attention, etc. I'm just curious if this is typical of the breed or if this is just typical of my friend's dog.

Not sure what the problem is, but I think it's just your friends dog. I have two jack russells and they don't wine.

Jack russel terriers???How do I stop my jack russel terrier from biting and growling at me??

I have a jack russel terrier and hes very aggresive towards me. He trys to bite me when I pick him up and hes 4 years old. How do I make him stop??

I have a Jack Russel terrier myself and the one thing I have noticed is that if you do not establish dominance over the dog they will run you and the household. One thing to try is to get him fixed if he isn't already. Another is to speak to him in a loud aggressive voice when he does bite or growl at you, stare him down right in the eyes until he looks away. It is very important that you don't look away first so he knows that you are boss. When you walk into a room come right over to where he is sitting and nudge him and just stand there, let him know that this is your room and your in charge. Put him in a kennel or a secluded area when he does act up to let him know that this is what happens when you act up. Sometimes when mine was trying to run the house I would give her a little nudge right on the hind quarters to let her know this is my house and not yours I run sh*t not you! Hope this helps, I watched it on the dog whisperer and it works!

How to bath a jack Russell terriers and to stop it from being afraid of the water?

I have a jack Russell terrier and i wanted to know how to bath it. it was also very afraid of the water. even i let her enjoy her bath and give her treats, she will not come to bath. what would i do? and when i bath it, will i also make her head wet? this is my very big problem.

i have one too. i always get him to come to me with a treat and hold onto him as i take off his collar. then i pick him up and put him in the bathtub. he doesn't like the water but he loves the shampoo. don't put her head underwater because she can get earmites from that. i just get some water and scrub his head but when he got earmites, it was really terrible

Is brown fur recessive in Jack Russell Terriers?

I’ve seen a lot of Jack Russell Terriers, both in real life and in pictures, and they all have bodies with white fur. Their ears and their head, however, have brown fur and their paws are white with brown spots. I have a four year old female Jack Russell Terrier and her body has brown fur. She has white fur on her neck and at the end of her tail. Her paws are normal, white with brown spots. Would you say this is recessive?

Actually, its part of the breed standard that the terrier should be at least 51% white. Why? Because Jrts used to hunt with hounds, and hunters didn't want the hounds mistaking the terrier for the quarry, so they bred for a more identible color.

The ideal markings are a facial mask, and a dab of coloring at the tail. However, theres many excellent dogs with different markings.

Should there be more than 49% brown, or another color on the terrier.. it wouldn't be registerable.

Hope that answered your question xD Have a nice day!

Are jack russel terriers able to compete in agility and or disc competitions?

I have a 6 month old jack russel terrier that is showing interest and talent in both categories. I was just wondering if they are permitted to compete or not and how i can train her further (by myself, i wont pay to train) Thanks!

Haven't really encountered the frisbee competitions, but i know that thwere are a lot of successful agility jack russells- you only need to watch crufts to find that out.

Good luck with you training, and who knows, maybe one day we will see you competin at a big dog show like Crufts
