or do you have any good sites?
They are extremely bright, inquisitive and very difficult to train if you're not very experienced and up to the challenge. They will bark all day if left outside where they can see the world passing by. They will dash around an apartment, jumping on and off the furniture, until you and your downstairs neighbors are insane. They will play tug-of-war with your kid's clothes and steal anything just to get you to chase them. They will also torment your cat and kill your kids hamster's. Hell of a lot of fun or frustration - take your pick! I love and own terriers, but I've never recommened a JR to someone else. An awful lot of them end up in the shelters.

I have one, he is now 11 years old. I was curious as to what people think about them.
i never heard much of this breed before I adopted one, oh about 8 years ago now..he's been great! A bundle of energy, playful, loving..but he is a one-person (ME!) dog, loves me like crazy..he is very smart, quick to learn…I volunteer at a local animal shelter and have heard some call this breed "Jack Russell Terrorist", but I love mine to death. I wouldnt trade him for anything, and after he passes, which I hope isnt for sometime, I will get another jack. They are very pretty dogs as well as smart..what a combo! At 9 years old he looks only slightly older than when we adopted him and his energy level is just as high..

I want it because I looooove little dogs and dalmations and I think it would be really cute!
To everyone that is stupid about answering question. It is just a simple little question that I wanted to know. You can just say yes or no and give a relevant answer explaining why or why not. You do not have to add a rude comment or what you think about it.
Yes if the Jack Russell is the father. But you would most likely need them to be artificially inseminated. But could you imagine the temperaments of the offspring. That would be a NIGHTMARE!

I bought a JRT and the breeder had told me to cut his tail because when the male JRT gets older they tend to become really mean? I never heard of that.
JRT's are usually pretty mean little dogs to anything other than their owners
I don't see why cutting its tail would make any difference but neutering and the way you raise him will make a huge difference to his personality so you don't have to have a mean one.

I think they're so cute, and my landlord's is really well behaved, but she is old. I've read that they can be aggressive, territorial, and jumpy. If you have one, please let me know your experience!
Mine is 6 months old. She is playful but not hyper like most people claim them to be. She is great with my 3yo daughter.
But, I did rescue her from an abusive home, so we are still working with her on some issues. But if i had it to do over again, I would take her again in a heart beat. She does tend to favor me over evryone else, but she is not aggressive toward other people or animals in my house. The following is a link to a site with most the info you need to make an educated decision on if you would be up to the challenge, and what to expect.

Now, there is a slight difference in a few things these two sites have listed, but on the most part they agree.
Just remember, each dog has their own personality. So, these will just be basic guidelines so you will get an idea on what you COULD be getting into.
Good Luck.

My Jack Russell is always shivering. We think maybe it's the cold weather up here or the other dog we have that he may be intimidated by!
He is nervous and excitable! My Yorkie used to shake when he was scared (esp during thunder and lightning). If it is really cold where you are, make sure the dog is kept warm. Terriers are active and excitable dogs by nature.

hes 2.5 years old. we adopted him from a shelter. he has skin problem. we have only had him for about a week and a half. hes very shy.
I wouldn't really say it's normal behavior but it's not totally uncommon either.
Part of it could be nervousness and shyness since you just adopted him and he is learning to adapt to the environment.
However, I would also bring him to the vet to get checked out…..check out his nervous system….you don't want to have to worry about seizures.
Good luck with your dog though…I have two jack russells and they are great dogs!

My 4 month old jack is very respectful and intellegent. He's a pretty laid back boy and I'm worried he's going to turn into a super hyper maniac. Will he get more hyper as he gets older or is there a possibility he will remain a laid back Jack?
To Tryin' Again: The reason I asked the question again is because people like you didn't even answer it!
Yeah ya see, they require an extreme amount of exercise, so as long as he goes running twice a day, he won't be that hyper in the house, u could buy him a little treadmill even….

They are both 2 months old, and previously they often play fought with each other. However, when I was feeding them they turned aggressive on each other and one of the pups suffered a cut on the nose. How can I curb or prevent this type of aggressive behavior in the future?
Well possesion over food is not uncommon. Firstly, if they don't have separate dishes, do that first. Secondly, they're having a bit of competition with each other, this is fairly normal as well, especially for such high energy dogs as Jack's. You need to show them they they are both equal and YOU are the boss. The easiest way to do this is to hold them on their backs infront on each other, or two at the same time, and keep them there until they relax. There is a million other ways to do it as well, but that's the easiest and easiest to explain. Its normal growing up stuff, but make sure you curb it so you end up with the dogs you want, not terrors.
Sounds like you're on the right track and fully aware of what's acceptable and what's not. And you're seeking help in dealing with what's not. Good for you, keep on going, responsible dog owner!
Though it is true, that its harder for you to bond with the pups when to are together isn't not impossible, ask any parent with twins! Make sure that you play with them, walk them and spend some time with each one on one. So long as high energy dogs are given the chance to burn out their energy, they're wonderful pets! Keep the two of them, and keep on the right track. Pick up a few books as well for great tips on keeping two together.

People always comment that my Jack Russell, Beauxregard, seems larger than others.
I think there are 3 types of JRTs: the Parson JRT, the long-legged and the short legged JRT.
