Is their anything I can do to stop my Jack Russells from malting?

Every night my Jack Russells are inside they leave their fur all over the place. Is their a way to stop it or minimise the malting.

Buy yourself some Brewers Yeast and sprinkle it in their food. I used to sprinkle about a half a teaspoon over my dog's food every day. He's a Lab so you may want to use the same for two dogs.

In about two weeks it will start to get better.

You can also give them Cod Liver Oil to improve their coat.

You used the word moulting so I assume you don't live in the States. When I lived there the on-line pet stores sold a pet vacuum (hoover) which was a low powered vacuum which you used to brush your pet. They also sold attachments to hook onto your regular vacuum cleaner and you could use that as well. It would take some work to get your dogs used to it, but it may help if you can get something similar.

I use Holland & Barrats de-bittered Brewers Yeast. When I lived in the States I used a different brand which was sold in the health food section of the grocery store.

what diseases are jack russells prone to having?

i have one and he's 1.5 yr old but as he gets older, he might get ill. what diseases are they prone to?

Allergies are a fairly common problem for JRTs. Mine had really bad allergies (hives, swollen eyes, etc) for a while and the vet had to put her on steroids. It has gone away as she got older but we were never able to figure out what caused it. The vet sad allergie problems can come and go with age so you never know.

Why do Jack Russells go crazy when we go near our front door?

When my boyfriend goes to work or when I go out the front door my jacks bark and run around and act crazy when someone leaves. They are fine once we have left but when we go for the door they go crazy. We have dealt with separation aniexty but this will not stop at all. Please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They want to go with you. do you walk them or take them to the doggie park? Jacks are high energy. do they have a back yard and do you go back there and play with them. They do not want you to leave with out going with you that is obvious. I would say that it sounds like they need more exercise.

My dog is a much better dog when she has been exercised.

Also I would recommend that you join the Dog Whisperer site and see if you can pick up some clues there.

What is wrong with my 6 month old jack russells eye?

It looks as if the outside of her eyeball is coming lose. It happened first to her left eye but it just seemed to go away on its own. Now it is happening to the right eye about a month later. Does anyone have any idea what this is. Is it serious?
Thanks!
Thanks everyone for suggesting cherry eye..however when i looked it up i dont believe this is the problem. It almost looks as though she is wearing contact lens that is getting wrinkled in her eye? I can't think of a better way to explain it. Thanks everyone for the helps!

Is it the eyeball or the eyelid? I don't think part of the eyball would come loose. Dogs can get a condition called cherry eye. On the inside of the eyelid, there will be a funny red looking thing. It is also called the third eyelid. It usually needs surgery to correct.

My husband has 2 Jack Russells and will not take care of them?

About 2 yrs ago my husband brought home 2 Jack Russells. I have 2 female Labs I have had them for 8 yrs. So I do not mind taking care of them, but I am expected to take care of his dogs as well. Please keep in mind that he has never took care of my Labs. I have to do everything with the dogs and the kids. I can let my dogs run in the yard without a problem his dogs willl run off if they are not on a leash. He will not even take them out for the bathroom. If I do not take them out he puts them in the kitchen and lets them use the bathroom in my kitchen and makes me clean up after them!!! I have to feed and water them as well. These Jack Russells have destroyed our couch, and most of my kids toys, They have pulled chunck out of the carpet. Even when the Labs were pups they didn't do anything like this. The wosre thing my Labs ever did was chew up one of my running shoes. My husband gets mad if I talk about selling his dogs . They dogs are worse than my 3 kids What should I do?

Tell him that you have had enough. Either he begins to help out with the home, children AND the dogs! If he says no, tell him you will need to ease your burden, and find new homes for his two Jack Russel's (the please, call a jack russel rescue!)..
Those little angels need alot of attention, and are very active, or so I have heard <laughs gently>. Maybe your hubby would be interested in doing agility courses with them. He would get to meet new people, enjoy his dogs, and become more responsible.
That breed is not for everyone, so don't feel badly. Just be honest with your husband. Square your shoulders, straighten yourself, and look the man straight in the eye.. <warm hugs>

What is the Cheapest way to send 2 jack russells to the Philippines from the UK?

I have been pulling my hair out trying to find a solution for sending my 2 JRT's to my family in the Philippines, i don't have much money and my wife, myself and our baby are immigrating to oz as my wife has been accepted for a job there, i cant take them with me because (A) it's too expensive and (B) we will have to rent for ages before we settle down and i have no one here in the UK to take them and adoption is my last option, 1 crazy idea is to send them to the Philippines where they will be cared for by my wife's family, i have already got the import permit sorted and can get the iata approved containers, and there medicals sorted, my family will collect them from the airport. I simply cant afford any quotes so far from pet travel agents all over 1k and I'm wondering if anyone knows a way i can put them on an aircraft as cargo and get them to Manila Airport where they will be taken care of from there. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
mmcrobinson, these people don't seem to operate from the UK, but thanks all the same
Diane S: Of course i agree with you but my hands are tied, one of them is too dependant on the other one and i fear she will not do well if they are separated which adoption will do, besides i don't trust anyone with them, if i had the money i would take them myself by my side but i am willing to take the risk as the outcome will be benefit everyone and i know they will travel ok and let be honest, pet travel agents don't do anything with the pets on-board the aircraft, i will make sure they are comfortable and arrive at the airport in good shape but yes it is a long flight. Thanks all the same
wbusykat4: runway pets do not operate in the UK, but thanks all the same
iluvtorofl: Yes of course i have, but its not as "story book" as you make it sound, If i knew anyone who could take them both then i would not be trying to send them to my distant family, if i put them up for adoption then they will most likely be separated and the female would be lost without the male whom she depends on so much, but yes as a last resort i would have no choice but to do this, but i don't think this should have any bearing on how deeply i care for them but since you ask i would have thought that would have been obvious. Thanks all the same

I am in Canada so I can;t really help, but I would be looking for the safest way for the little ones to travel rather than the cheapest. It's a very long way for them to travel. I know you don;t have much money, but it's money wasted sending them if the little ones don;t arrive alive and healthy.

Good luck with your move. I hope you can find a good airline that will take them at a reasonable cost.

How do I stop my two Jack Russells from Fighting?

I have 2 female JRT, ages 2 and 3. They get along with one another 99.99% of the time. In the last year or so they have gotten in some nasty fights. They really enjoy and love each other. They stay home alone everyday and we have never come home to find evidence that they may have gotten in a fight. For the most part now we can tell when they may fight and we tell them no and they understand. It first seemed that they only would start a fight when my husband or I was playing or paying attention to the other one. In the last couple of months they have had a couple bad fights, and u have to kill yourself to get them apart and they have wounded each other, How can I stop this for good? There is no way I could ever give one of them up, but I am afraid that one day one of them or us is going to get hurt. Should I hire someone? Please help, I need this to never happen again.
Also, they def. rarely ever fight. They have gone months w/out fighting. When they do fight it is so bad. We have never let them to continue to fight, I think that they could really hurt one another. They just rip each others faces off, it is bad. I can try the spray bottle thing next time, but I really hope there is never a next time. Another note is that they have never gotten in a fight w/ any other dog or a jack russell. I really hope I can save my family, I am very upset.

I'm sorry to hear your "daughters" arn't getting along. There is definitely a jealously issue going on here, I have a Jack Russell Cross who gets really upset when his "daddy" gives me attention.

I would get out a bottle of water and spray them when they fight to get them to cool down. I would maybe work with a professional dog behaviour specialist who might work threw the issues because the worst thing would be to come home and find one of them seriously injured.
