Training Jack Russells

My two jack russells fight what should i do?

Ok i have two jack russells 1 is 8 years old and her name is bindy she is abit aggressive because she got badley hurt when she had to have major surgery so she is affraid of strangers and other dogs she isnt used to. anyway then i have another dog hes name is milo he is 2 and a half years old and they get along pretty well all day untill after dinner lately bindy steals milos dinner and they have a fight and we have to go sort it out the after dinner bindy usually goes to bed and milo just sits near the back door watching us but if one of us goes outside and milo comes up for a pat then bindy comes racing out of her kenal and attacks milo (thats my first problem) then when we go inside milo wont go to bed because bindy is in bed and their kennals are next to each other if milo goes to bed then bindy attacks him and so on so i want to know what to do please dont say get rid of one of them cause that aint gonna happen cause i love them both and im not getting rid of one of them
well the dogs are always outside and then dont have cages (i dont even no wat they are) there beds are just plastic kennals. when bindy attacks milo we tell her off and scolled her and she rolls on her back like dogs do when ur domonate ova them but then she goes and does it every night. Oh and they are fed about 2 meters away from each other and there is no way to feed them seperatley cause they cant come in the house cause my mum has alergies

you have to give disapline when you see the other dog running over to steal food. that means youll have to watch them an mean business when you do it, same thing when the other dog gets jelous when you pet the other dog you have to let them know its not ok. i would put both dogs on the bed an make them lay there an if one starts acting up i would disapline it. i would get creative an have like 2 pot lids an bang them together when one starts to get nasty LOL an i bet it wouldnt do it again

Do all white Jack russells have more health problems?

If I got an all white Jack Russell terrier or an all white Boston terrier, would they have allergies or be deaf?

Mainly Jack russells, I've seen so many white ones for sale. Are they bad news for breeders?

P.S. I don't breed, I don't show, I just want to adopt a healthy puppy, so don't harass me about character, thanks!

Sorry I don't have experience with that breed but I do know that white dogs and cats have a genetic predisposition to be deaf.
eg a dalmation that is white or has only a few spots is one you could well find is deaf.
a lot of white cats are deaf and so on.
If you really want to know, test it when you go to pick your puppy. Clap your hands when the puppies are not looking your way and see which ones prick their ears and turn to see where the noise came from. Pick one of those rather than one which ignores you.
Deafness is not the only thing to look for btw.
Also check their eyes are clear and not running.
Little bottoms are not red or smeared with runny waste. Look around the yard to find if their droppings are firm and don't have worms. If the breeder has just cleaned up, play with babies for a while and hopefully you will see one defecate, then check.
Check skin and fur for fleas, black spots, dirt, flaky skin etc. Is your puppy clean?
Are the gums a lovely healthy pink and is the pup lively and running around happily?
Don't take a lethargic pup, it may not just be tired, it could be sick.
Check ears are clean too and that the breeder has been trimming nails so you don't have a fight on your hands when you go to do it for the first time, though that is not a health issue.
For more information, google Jack Russell health problems and Boston terrier health problems.
Good Luck and happy puppying.

How hyper are Jack Russells?

My cousin is thinking about getting a Jack Russell. But she doesn’t want a REALLY hyper dog. Are jack russells really really really hyper. Thanks!!
I have had one before. And I found him to be ok. But can you tell me or show me an example? Thank you!
And also is a female less hyper than a male?

I've owned two and I'm currently fostering one.

THEY ARE VERY,VERY,VERY HYPER!
The one I am fostering is 8 years old and STILL bounces off the walls.
I used to have one named Cappi that would bouce up and down in mid-air for 20 minutes straight.

If she doesn't want a really hyper dog, then this is NOT the breed for her.

>I don't think gender makes a difference.

is wheezing normal for jack russells?

I just got a new jack Russell terrier. She sort of moans and snuffles when she breathes. I don't think wheezing is a good name for it. The people who gave her to me said it's normal behavior for her because they had her for 3 years and their vet never commented on it. But none of my other jack Russells do this. So I'm wondering if it's just her unique behavior.

be on the safe side and take her to your vet. this is not normal I'm sure you know since you have other jacks. get a clean bill of health and a second opinion on her. it's the only way you will know for sure.

please tell me if jack russells shed alot?

I have been told males do not shed but I do not care, just do they shed alot or not?

I have two and they shed loads.

I live in Spain and shedded hair blows across the tiled floors like tumbleweed.

That reminds me - I must get off here and do some housework

One male and one female by the way. They are both just as bad

Why do Jack Russells pull on the lead like they are trying to go 100mph?

Even when you pull them back hundreds of times, they never learn.

Because they are excitable little dogs who want to be everywhere like NOW! Walk them against a wall and when they try to go in front, stamp in front of them, or make a ssssst noice. Then when they walk next to you, click a clicker or say good and give a treat. My Jack Russell has walked at heel since she was a few months old but it takes LOTS of training. Shes a nut case and would, if i let her, pull all the time. I love proving people wrong about Jacks… theyre so cool… dont give up!
