Training Jack Russells

Rescued a 3 year old Jack Russell Terrier and love her! But any tips to get her to get along with other dogs?

Just treat her with respect, but keep her in line. teach her, and show her what to do and what not to do. sometimes this shows them what to do and what not to do around other dogs. this worked with my beautiful black lab

I have a 5 mon. jrt that is sick, want a rescue center to take her in around Chicago area?

My jack russell terrier is deathly sick and cannot afford to take care of her. Live in the Chicago area and need a place to take her that will possibly keep her alive and give her the treatment she needs.

If you can give me more details I may be able to help you. Do you know what's wrong with her or not? Please email me if you can. I can possibly find her a wonderful home to go to! I'm about six hours away but that's not a problem at all!

Gonna miss Jack…question for rescuers and foster parents?

I rescued Jack 2 weeks ago from certain death at the hands of a horrible owner. I found him a great new home and he leaves tomorrow. I'm already missing him and I know I'll cry when I bring him to his new owners. I know my dog Casey is going to miss him too. Do other foster parents and rescuers cry too? I don't want to look like a nut case.

All the time, but they are tears of joy. Your Jack has found his forever home, what is better than that?

Best rehoming solution for this rescue?

Jack is an 8 month old Blue Heeler who was about to be shot because he's injured. I brought him to the vet this morning and his prognosis is good. I spoke with a rescue for cattle dogs who will train him and find a farm or ranch where he will work. Also, a friend's mother owned a dog like this for years and lost him about 6 months ago. She is ready to adopt again and would give him a great, pampered life. With these 2 options which would you think is the best for Jack? According to the vet, once his injuries have healed he should have no disabilities or limitations.

Sign him up for rescue - and have your friend's mother apply to them.

That way, the dog will have the insurance of being a rescue dog, whether she adopts him, or another one, and if things don't work out for him wherever he goes, he will end up back with that rescue - safe. They all have give-back clauses that say the dog must be returned to the rescue, and that will stand him in good stead later on…

Good for you for saving this dog's life - you're a dog angel!

Anyone know a REALLY good English Springer Spaniel rescue or have advice about how to cure crazy behavior?

We are moving from Mi to SC and our poor Jack is not getting the attention he needs. He is SO high strung! We LOVE him so much but not sure what to do. He chewed out of his steel crate and now we started leaving him out when we leave (which is only for short periods of time since I am a stay at home mom). Well……on the days that the air is off and the windows are open (an inch) he pushes it open and chews through the screen and jumps out! We started shutting all the windows but he even pushed our daughters door open upstairs (must not have been latched all the way) and chewed THAT screen too! Cant believe he didnt jump out the window….it could have been fatal! We would love to keep him but feel like he needs more than we can give him. Took other "answers" advice before and started to run him every day but that wasnt enough either???? Should we have him fixed to calm him? Should we send him to a resuce? At a total loss but want what is best for Jack for sure. HELP!

I don't know of any Spaniel rescues, but will suggest what comes to mind….

The running is great; keep that up : )
I would buy him a Kong and Buster Cube, if he doesn't already have those — they should get him to calm down for a bit, while he works at them.
It sounds like he's lacking mental stimulation to me — he's bored and frustrated. I would take DP's advice, and take him to some classes. He may also be a good agility dog, if you'd like to try that with him.
In all honesty, I would try to exhaust every other option before sending him to a rescue, because they are so overcrowded.
Definately have him neutered, as well.

Best of luck : )

I've adopted a dog from a rescue home and need some name ideas please?

She's a pretty little eight month old wire-haired Jack Russell. She's mainly white with a couple of black and tan splodges. She's currently called Missy but I really don't like that name and she's young enough for me to change it, although I'll need something similar sounding. Has anyone got any bright ideas please?

what was the name of rhe rescue center maybe you can use some part of that name ? I'm sure they would appreciate some kind of acknowledgment for you naming her something that reflects their service's and all the care and time that they put into this kind of helpful services?

How can I stop my Jack Russell from barking all the time?

He's a rescue, had him about 1 1/2 months. I've tried using a spray water bottle, rewarding him with treats when he doesn't bark, using a can with pennies (making a loud noise), none of these work. I don't want to use a bark collar, i heard they don't work and it's not fair to the dog.

a citronella collar is totally harmless just irritating by spraying the dog in face. sometimes it works sometimes not worth a try. petsmart has training courses for 99 dollars too.

Why Jack wants to go back to the island after his rescue?

Well, no one knows at this point. We can only assume that he has realized that they were meant to stay on the island, and when they left the island it screwed with the time/space thing, and everything is all out of whack. I am pretty sure that there is also some threat to the ones who remained on the island, and that the "Oceanic 6" need to return to the island to set things right in the universe, and ensure the safety of the remaining survivors. They have definitely cleared the question up that we have been wondering about for quite a while. That the island has special properties that affect "time". That is why the island was impossible to find. When the hatch blew up it caused a reaction in the atmosphere that allowed them to be detected briefly (by the ones who are working for Penelope). Jack is not the only one who has indicated that the people on the island need them to return. Charlie (who is dead) appeared to Hurley back in America and told Hurley that "they need you."

What does QED stand for when jack sparrow is standing on the beach talking to the crew in davy jones locker?

when captain barbosa takes his crew to rescue captain jack sparrow and they are standing by the sea in davy jones locker he says the letters QED, what do they stand for?

My 13 year old asked me this today. I didn't know but tried to find on online but found this question instead. He found the answer in Webster's American Family Dictionary:

QED- which was to be shown or demonstrated (used esp. mathmatical proofs). [<latin quod erat demonstrandum]
