So, our dog just had puppies and they are a week and a half old. But their eyes are still not open! So how long does it take, and is this normal?
All dogs open their eyes 10 to14 days usually 10 days. Do not try to force their eyes open because it will damage them they will open when they are ready. They will be fine.Good luck with your pups.

I have 2 10 week old Jack Russell pups. I was just wanting any advice on general training, e.g sit, down, come, stay commands. Is it best to take one at a time? or train together? Would you advise to use treats?
Thank you.
Pray! I did it with 2 rat terriers and it was def trying times, but well worth it. Good luck and be patient. They have lots of energy, but short attention spans. Def use treats and switch it up for them, they get bored easily. You can prob do both at once if you can handle it. My female learned house training from watching my male.

Do not know the answer, but I love jack russells, mine is eight now and I love him to bits, he is a loyal and playful mate with a mind of his own. Hope you find good homes for them, do they love jacks would be the first question I would ask them.

I am looking to buy a Jack Russel Puppy and i was wondering if anyone could inform me of what the average price is..
There is rarely ever a need to buy a dog. 10 million animals are killed in shelters every year. Try contacting your local animal shelters to let them know what you are looking for or find a breed rescue on-line or try petfinder.com. You should be able to adopt a purebred Jack Russel for anywhere from 0-100 bucks

IS THERE A SAFE WAY TO DOCK A JACK RUSSELL PUPPIES TAIL,
Take it to the vet. If it's a few days old, it is a simple and inexpensive procedure. If it is older than that, it is considered an amputation, and the dog will need to be put under anesthesia to amputate the tail. The tail has a blood supply and nerves like any other extremity, so "docking" it yourself is not an option.

Is there any logical reason for this?
The eating of non-food objects (by dogs, cats, or people) is called pica, and it is not all that uncommon, especially the "dog eating rocks" type.
If the puppies are super-young, they are exploring. Their mouths are their hands, so they are eating whatever they find (including poop if you don't watch them!) Our English mastiff used to eat the quikcrete off of the patio (!), but this stopped after a about 2 months.
If they are older now and have not stopped, your friend should look at the behavior in its context to try and stop it. What happens right before the rock eating? Right after? The dogs may want attention, or they may be nervous about something in their environment. Once you figure out what is causing this behavior, you can correct it.
Have your friend teach the dogs other outdoor activities like fetch or swimming (depending on the environment). In addition, the dogs MUST be taught to come when called and to stay. These commands will not only make them stop eating rocks, but could very well save the dogs' lives! (Think about a dog taking off across a busy street or into the woods after a squirrel.)
