i give my Jack Russel a bath once a month then i take him to a groomers once a month and he gets the front line plus and a good bath and groom….giving him a bath to much will dry his skin out…….

My dog Nelly is so great I just thought everyone should know.
I always was a cat person because dogs were too needy. Also, I always thought of myself as a guy that liked big dogs, but this dog is the best dog I have ever been around. She isnt hyper, she is smart though and she doesnt have that Napoleon syndrome like small dogs that I have been around. Best dog I have ever been around.

i have to agree with you we have a jack russell cross and then we breed her with a jack russell and we kept a puppy and they are so smart.i love them and would love to own a pure breed.

Penny, is a female, inside dog. She is 6 or 7 years old, shots up to date, spayed,heartgard, free of ticks and fleas. She is a devoted, loving dog, that has never been around children. Penny is also a great mouser! She is free to a good home! Needs to be in a single dog family.

First of all I would not give her away for free. Trust me on this I have placed dogs into good homes for over 25 years, and I have found that if you give a dog away free you will have to rerescue it. Go to your local shelter and ASK them for a number for the Jack russell rescue in the area, and call them to see if they will take her and find her a good home. You could also call the A.S.P.C.A. and find out if they can place her or help you place her. Good Luck.

The rabbit has free run of the garden and comes into the house. iIhave been given different views by different people on whether to introduce them. One says introduce them when puppy is young and everything will be ok, others say it is a jack russells instinct to attack rabbits so keep them apart. What do I do?

how funny. i think that if the dog grows with the rabbit around it's ok. they'll become friends.

I am not at home during the day. He also chews everything
he can find.

it might not sound nice but it works for chewing. you put hot sauce on a rag. you put the rag in his mouth.now he will not like hot sauce. you put a drop of hot sauce on any thing he chews.when he smell to hot sauce on it he will not chew it.
if you use anything to keep out rabbits,like blood meal your dog will dig in your garden. fill the holes with his poop. its good for the garden and he does not want to dig in his poop.

I have a very loyal 7 year old Jack Russell who is male and very protective. We are going to buy a female Jack Russell puppy and I was wondering if he woud cause any trouble towards the new puppy?

He is fine with dogs he knows well in the neighbourhood but not good with new dogs so much! He is also good with the extended families dogs.

He may then again he may not, it all depends on the dogs. Introduce them in neutral territory and take them on a walk together to see how they react to each other. Being that your older doy has been the only dog in the family for 7 years, he may show some signs of jealousy. Be sure you give him extra attention and don’t ignore him when the new pup arrives as this will only make him not like the puppy more. If introduced correctly, you should have no problems. How is your dog with other animals? Does he get along with them or is he aggressive toward other dogs?

How long would a 15 kg dog food last a jack russell? i was thinking about getting a jack russell and wondered how much food would cost? there is this pet food at tesco called wagg (i live in the uk) and it costs £9.99 for 15kg.How much do jack Russell’s/ small dogs eat in one meal?

Jack Russells are not big eaters usually. They are usually around 15-20lbs and extremely active. So he may require frequent meals if you exercise him a lot to. If you keep him in the house and only go on walks then his calorie requirement would be much smaller. As far as dog food, just make sure it’s a quality food with a reputable company making it. The off brands sometimes are good, but just check them out.
