Training Jack Russells

Name of PBS childrens show with Jack Russell terrier dog as main character?

There was a childrens show in the late 90's early 2000's that had the main character as a Jack Russell terrier dog. It always ended with a Wells Fargo commercial. I am assuming that was the shows sponsor. It was NOT animated. Played in the afternoons.

Wishbone

It's funny because I totally forgot about that show… then I saw the title of your question, and was like, "OH! WISHBONE!"

I think I'll go see if it's on Hulu now, I remember watching it all the time as a kid.

What happened to jack the dog @ end of movie The lake house?

First hes with Alex, then with Kate and in the end…..he's not around?

I've seen that movie about 3 times and I still don't get it. Anything about it, the dog, the time warp thing, how they get together. It just gives me a headache every time I see it. I only watch it for the kiss at the end when they finally get together, somehow someway. Oh, my head.

Why does my dog (Jack Russell Terrier-male) enjoy wallowing in the remains of other dead animals?

the prior post is partial correct. Most hunting breeds are prone to this activity. Disguising their scent by rolling in remains so that they can keep from being detected while hunting. This is common also in herding breeds as well. As nearly all animals have keen sense of smell, if they smell one of their own they are less likely to bolt. This enables the dog to approach without being detected through smell.

We have taken over someones Jack russsell dog who is 11 years old?

She has lived for approx 9 years outside as a yard dog but now indoors with us. Continuous twitching! do you think this is due to being out in all weathers? When we first saw her she was a bundle of bones, had her indoors now for approx 4months and she is good as gold, extremely affectionate, not snappy and normal weight. Will all that time out in the cold and the twitching shorten her lifespan?

Sounds like the dog has a far better home now!
As for living outside all that time , it wont shorten her life! Jackrussells are outdoor dogs , we have had them all our life, and they usually do seem to prefer outside! As for the twitching jackrussells tend to have this alot usually out of excitment or fear!
Being she is eleven yrs old she has probably slowed alot down now our last jack lived to 17 very good age! We found as they do get to these ages , they do prefere to be indoors more cuddled up! So you have given the dog a lovely new home, you dont have any problems there just enjoy your new addition to the family!

Is a Jack Russell Terrier an ok first dog?

I'm 15 and although my mom had dogs when she was younger, I never had a dog before. I heard Jack Russells are hyper but everything else about it seems to fit what I want perfectly. Is this an ok first dog?

they are also very vocal dogs and bark often. Prospective buyers like you should be aware, however, that while these dogs may enjoy sitting in a lap, they are not “lap dogs” – they are dogs that require training and regular and consistent exercise to maintain their temperament and to occupy their minds.Jack Russells that are not trained on a consistent basis, or are not exercised regularly, may exhibit unmanageable behaviour, including excessive barking, escaping from the yard, or digging in unwanted places inside
and outside the house.

Most Jack Russell Terriers easily mingle with children, though they do not tolerate even unintentional abuse. Most are outgoing, and very friendly towards other dogs, but a good number show same-sex aggression issues.Their fearlessness can scare off a larger animal, but their apparent unawareness of their small size can lead to a lopsided fight with larger dogs if not kept in check.

It is not uncommon for a Jack Russell terrier to be cat-aggressive, and homes with other small fur-bearing animals in them (pet hamsters, rabbits, guinea pigs, etc.)but you still should think through the consiquences of bringing a terrier into the house with other animals inside.

i hope that will help your desition

A good dog for a Jack Russell?

My family has had our Jack Russell, Gizmo, for about three years now and are looking into buying a second dog. he is ok with other dogs of both sex. I was wondering if anyone had suggestions of types of dogs that pair well with a Jack Russell.

I think each dog is individual and it depends on their personality. If he gets on with other dogs of both sexes then I'd say any breed of dog. We have two jack russells, a lab and a bernese and they all get on fine.

Is it weird that I like to cook for my dog Jack?

I started out by giving him leftovers, but then I started cooking an extra serving for my Jack. Obviously, I don't make him sit at the dinner table with me or do anything weird like that.
I was just wondering if anyone else likes to cook for their babies like this? Or if it is weird to cook for a dog?

My mother-in-law used to cook bacon for her chihuahua Chrissy. When that one died of a heart condition, she cooked whole chickens for the next one, on the theory that chicken was healthier than bacon. As long as you debone your chickens before you feed 'em to your doggy so he won't get the bones stuck in his little throat, I'm sure he'll appreciate all that attention. And it's no fun cooking just for yourself, is it? So what's the harm? I talk to my doggies all day long. They don't talk back, but I enjoy saying silly things to them anyway. What's the point of having a pet if you have to be SANE with 'em all the time!?

Should i get a male or female jack russell dog?

Well what gender dog do u think is right for me?
I want a playful hyper dog
A dog that can make me feel happy when im sad
A dog that is affectionate
A dog that loves to play ball

Either male or female would fit that bill. Dogs are like people, all have different personalities. I tend to like the males more. My boys are more tuned into me, and the girls are more focused on what they want to do. You need to consider your situation. Jack Russells tend to be same sex aggressive. If you already have a boy, get a girl, and visa versa. Also if you have any other species of pets, seriously don't get a Jack. They are working terriers and do not accept any other types of small animals well at all. Consider an older pup (4mon.-1.5 years).
Check out www.russellrescue.com There are lots of young animals that need homes.
