Training Jack Russells

I have a parsons jack russell cross border terrier puppy…?

Is this a good mix of dogs? also the mum was the border and the dad was the jack russell. The puppy looks more like the mum but whos temprement is he more likely to follow? Many thanks.

Since its a mixed breed, there is no way to predict 100% how your puppy will turn out, it could be more Border Terrier, or more Jack Russell, but here are two adult mixes that you can see and read to give you an idea on how yours may turn out.

how can i stop my 1 year old terrier cross from attacking our jack russell?

we have had the terrier for about 6 months and just got the jack russell a few days ago he is nearly 2 and was going to be put to sleep if no one took him. Now i am frightened our terrier is going to really hurt him if she keeps going so i have been keeping them seperated

It is a territorial thing and your 1year old is trying to tell your new dog that he is boss give them a few days and they should start to settle in.

I have a 3 year old cross jack Russel/chihuahua and he seems to be very delicate when you pick him up?

he yelps as if you have hurt him he has always been like this, we have had him since he was 6 months old he was a rescue, he is also delicate around the ear area, in fact any area if you put the slightest bit of pressure, other than this he is always full of beans, happy and very playfull.

This is some times common in a young dog that had been hurt before when a child had been picking them up wrong, since it hurt him before he is now expecting it to hurt. Make sure when you pick gun up to place all fingers under and more flat against his body with less finger tips touching. He is gun shy now and expects it to hurt again like last time by the child. Take care of that little baby and love on him.

where to buy jack russell cross yorkie in 510?

i cant seem to find any breeders/sellers.
can also be in the 650 area

Well, hopefully there aren't any breeders out there crossing these breeds on purpose. If you want one of these because your Friend, neighbor, uncle, etc… has one keep in mind that you probably won't get the same dog they have. It's a cross with no breed standards so you'll just be getting whatever. There are many jack russell crosses and yorkie crosses on petfinder.com take everyone's advise and go there.

Why is the cross of Saint Patrick broken in the Union Jack?

Maybe someone from Ireland would know? Is it a deliberate disrespect of Ireland? For example, they could have put it in the middle of the cross of Saint Andrew, so it would look like the center was covering its center. But the way they put its legs on opposite sides of the cross of Saint Andrew makes it look deliberately broken.

The cross of St Patrick has little to do historically w Ireland. The arms of the Kildare family - chosen by the British in 1800 as the most suitable for incorporation into the Union flag.
So keep your hair on.

my ten month old jack russell cross cocker goes mad when someone visits?

he goes nuts, picks up toys and runs around with it in his mouth, he also jumps up on their lap and trys licking them all the time, he is a farely well trained dog and knows the off command and leave. i play with him lots. he also sits around begging and staring when we are eating, he alsways ahs a supply of his own food. ive tried making him sit in his bed when we eat but he still ponses

I'd have to disagree about what type of dog it is doesn't matter, of course it does. Jack Russell terriers have a distinct personality, one that sounds much like the behavior your dog is exhibiting. I teach my students to make their dogs greet visitors politely. Have your guests cross their arms on their chest and avoid eye contact with your guy. When he sits and behaves, they can reward him with a treat and a pet. If you get all your company to do this in the beginning, he'll get the right behavior down before you know it.

The begging thing is because at some time he got something yummy by doing it and he is NEVER going to forget it. Dogs have something called "imprinting". This means that the first experience they have of something is imprinted on their little brains and it is very difficult to undo that. I make my dogs stay in another room when we eat and I never let them hang out in the kitchen. Crate him if need be, then you won't have to see him begging :-)

what does it mean if a jack russell cross suddenly appears to have big black patches on his stomach?

he is 4 years old and crossed with a beagle

One of my goldens tends to do this seasonally too. As long as it is just pigmentation, it's OK.

Dogs: the cross between jack russells and collies, Border Jacks?

Some questions i have on this cross..

1. What are they like, temperment etc?
2. What do they look like?
3. Are there any websites etc with details on Border Jacks?
4. What are your personal experience of them, or what are the experiences of them with people you know?

Thank You

1. What are they like, temperment etc?
Can't predict temperament of mutts.

2. What do they look like?
Can't predict physical appearance of mutts.

3. Are there any websites etc with details on Border Jacks?
Look up JRTs and BCs, you can get *any* combination of traits. Even puppies in the same litter can be very different.
If you're looking to get one, check out http://www.petfinder.com/ , as no good breeder would purposely mix breeds.

4. What are your personal experience of them, or what are the experiences of them with people you know?
I don't know anyone with this mix, but I imagine they are a very hyper high-energy dog. A handful.

How big does a Jackachi get? (Cross Chihuahua Jack Russell)?

I just got a female Jackachi and i was wondering how big she will get when fully grown?
Her dad was a Chihuahua and her mum was a jack russell - she is the runt of the litter. And out of her litter, she was the one that looks most like a Chihuahua.
She is only 9 weeks

CONGRATULATIONS!
I have a Jack-Chi too… female, runt of the litter, and has the body of a Chihuahua as well!

She only reached 6lbs and has stopped growing. However, from what ive heard this is abnormal. Usually Jack-Chis weigh about 10-12 lbs.

Heres a pic of my Hunnie
