i'm trying to find somewhere that is legit and is selling sometime soon…
i've looked on all the breeder sites.. but i was just wondering if someone knew of someone that isnt advertising or maybe someone they used
This is your areas contact for Westies. She should be able to put you in touch with breeders or refer you to the person who maintains the breeder referral list in your area.

Once the gentle leader is actually on our dog & we are walking she isn't too bad, she scratches at it a little but then relaxes and walks really well.
We bought the gentle leader because she pulls towards traffic and this is making a difference as we only need to put a little pressure on the leader to turn her head and distract her instead of using alot of force to pull her back on a normal collar & lead.
I've seen the videos on youtube of gentle leaders being put on obedient dogs but my pup is not happy about having it put on and I do not want to fight her every time we go out for a walk, I have tried treats & can get her nose through the loop but as soon as I try to fasten the back all hell breaks loose.
I had the same problem with my dogs, 1 german shepard 1 Alaskan Malamute and a Shih-tzu, I did think of trying the Leaders but I was recommended a Halti check this site http://www.doglogic.com/halter.htm
it has loads of good advice. You can get Genuine Halti's of ebay, I find them much better and it stops the pulling completely. I used to get tugged around with the two big dogs, and the little just went with the flow. The Halti seriously made walking my dogs much more easier.

We recently went to get my Yorkshire Terrier cross Chihuahua groomed, where we came across some Jack Russell babies of 4 weeks. In two weeks time, we are going to take one of the Jack Russells. However, I am wondering about the health problems of the Jack Russell breed, as well as any possible implications with my other dog.
Thankyou in advance to this question.
Parson Russell Terrier's are prone to such health issues as Legg-Perthes, eye disease, and deafness.
There shouldn't be any problem. Only problem could be fleas, ticks, and parvo but, you should have shot for those for you puppies - they usually have it in package for all possible contamination..

Hey, I’m looking to adopt a staffordshire bull terrier, but I am having a lot of trouble finding a breeder. I’ve been searching online all day with no luck.
Does anyone have any information on where I might be able to adopt one?
if you are looking for a Staffordshire Bull Terrier then you will prob. have to ship 1 in from another state or drive to another state to pick 1 up. this is a breed not commenly found at rescue or shelters.
Howard Burgess listed above is a American Pit Bull Terrier and American Staffordshire Terrier breeder to my knowledge he doesn't breed Staffordshire Bull Terriers.
here is a link to some kennels but NONE are in Mich.

My rottweiler HATES his gentle leader. He constantly tries getting it off (rubbing his head on my leg, clawing at his face, etc.).
I have a prong collar which he is fine with, but I can't control him with it when he has a major freak out (like sees another dog or human he doesn't like). Plus prong collars are not allowed in our obedience class.
Is there something else I can use to keep him under control that won't make him crazy? Keep in mind, I only weigh 5 more pounds than him.
exactly how snug should the prong be?
I think you should gain some weight so you can control him with the prong collar.
I am submitting your rottie to be on the Dog Whisper. Now that I have video of one of his freak outs, there is no way Ceasar will say no.

We have a crazy bloodhound and need help
Gentle leaders are not for every dog, especially not for sensitive dogs and usually herding dogs react badly to them. GL'S MUST BE DESENSITIZED TO ALL DOGS. Do not expect to buy a gentle leader, put it on your dog and go out walking that day or the next or the next. It needs to be desensitized over a good couple weeks before going out and walking properly.
And like all other tools, this does NOT teach loose leash walking. This is only for you to be able to gain control, and teach LLW yourself.
Gentle leaders work by putting uncomfortable pressure on a dog's neck. There are rare cases of GL's causing tissue damage.
I had much better success with positive reinforcement than with the GL. Because just like with any other tool, a dog can get used to the pain/discomfort and just start pulling again.

I have a Jack Russell that looks nothing like the ones on TV, and I know people who have Jack Russells that look like kangaroos there legs are so long! Plus theres some curly haired ones Ive seen, so, how many distinctive kinds or types of Jacks are there???
Quite a few. The one true type is the JRTCA working Jack Russell Terrier.
Types-
Jack Russell Terrier: long legged. Comes in smooth coats, broken coats, and rough coats. http://www.jrtca.com NOT recognized by the AKC, thank Heavens.
Parson Russell Terrier: long legged. Not sure about the coat types. I -think- they can come in all three, but the roughs are groomed to look like brokens. Something like that. http://www.prtaa.org Recognized by the AKC.
Russell Terrier- short legged.
English Jack Russell Terrier- short legged.
The AKC is known for messing up breeds until they're no longer suitable for what they were bred for. The AKC tried to recognize the Jack Russell Terrier, but the JRTCA took a stand because they actually care about working ability and did not want the AKC so screw up Jrts as well. Now they're two different breeds pretty much. Or types if you prefer. The JRTCA Jack Russell Terrier, the true, working type that can show as well.. and the AKC Parson Russell Terrier, the new and unimproved, pretty show pooch type.
