i been trying to get myself a new puppy for almost two months but have had no luck in finding a breeder the dog i hoping for is a maltese terrier a wee bitch puppy preferably does anyone know of any good breeders

a neighbor just got a jack russell terrier.
and i saw him and i said aww how cute you got a little jack russell and she corrected me saying he was a parson russell terrier.
aren't they the same breed?
i may be wrong i just always thought they were.
i had a jack russell terrier when i was 6. but when my parents got divorced a year later we put him in a shelter because neither of them wanted him although he was my dog (i was too young to care for him they said)
what are the diffrences between the jack and parson terrier?

Jrts are working dogs. They were bred for huntning fox.
The AKC took this breed and changed its name. Then, they altered the standard, and are tryign to turn it into a pretty showing pooch.
They used to be the same. But now, Prts chests are getting bigger, they're getting taller, their tails are docked longer, they're grooming is odd, etc. etc. etc.
A terrier is supposed to be bold, and happy!
But… the AKC completely took out the section of the breed standard where they're supposed to hold their tails up gaily. Why? Theres no need or that! They hold them up.

They look pretty much the same right now.. they have the same origins.. But, thye will change. The Fox Terrier also HAD the same origins as the parson and the jack. Look how its changed. HUGE chest, snipy nose… totally not fit for hunting. Because the AKC, and AKC breeders decided beauty pagents were more important than working ability and instinct. Who cares if it fits the working standard? Lets make it pretty! -sarcasm-
Just like so many breeds have changed atfer they were adopted by the AKC, the parson will too eventually. Its already begunn the change.
Let me tell you. The JRT was bred to hunt. they were bred to go to ground.. and bolt their quarry, not kill, but bolt, or drag out.
But the AKC has exiled any dogs under 12 inches. While the JRTCA still allows terriers from 10-15 inches.
From a working terrier book:
"Towards that end, the American Kennel Club breed standard stipulated that an AKC Jack Russell Terrier could not be under 12 inches in height or over 15 inches in height, and that was the "ideal" dog was 14 inches tall and the ideal bitch was 13 inches tall. Ironically, this breed description effectively eliminated about 40 percent of all the American Jack Russell terriers that had worked red fox up to that time!
More importantly, this narrow standard eliminated the small dogs necessary to "size down" a breed- something absolutely necessary in order to keep working terriers small enough to work.
Of course, the American Kennel Club has never been interested in working terriers, and the breed club they created has shown no interest in work either.
Under pressure from the working Jack Russell Terrier community in England and the U.S., the British and American Kennel Clubs eventually decided to jettison the "Jack Russell terrier" name to more easily identify the non-working show dog they favored.
Now called the "Parson Russell Terrier," the AKC dog is quickly getting too big in the chest to work - not that many of the dogs are actually taken out into the field to try.
After just three years in the Kennel Club, the "Parson Russell Terrier Club" tried to modify the show ring standard so that the AKC dog no longer had to be spanned at all. Though this move was defeated, it was an early and ominous sign that the Parson Russell Terrier is morel ikely to end up as a show ring dog than the honest hunting dog from which it is derived."
So yes… they are different.
the Jack Russell Terrier is a better hunting dog, in my opinion and a lot of other people's.
We have no use for a "pull dog".
What is a pull dog?
A pull dog is a terrier that is too big to easily go to ground.
In other words.. most AKC PRTS are pull dogs.
We like to keep our working terriers, who can fit in the holes… and navigate their ways around.

Their standards are along the same lines. Even if the dogs you find in the PRTAA don't fit their standard. They both require dogs to be at least 51% white. And I can't say much more.

And here we go. The PRTAA, and AKC are mainly dedicated to screwing a great working terrier breed up, for its looks. Now, don't ask me why they think large chested Prts are pretty.. To be completely honest, they aren't looking for the ideal working dog, they're looking for the prettiest pooch they can find.
The JRTCA is a working club. While we do show our dogs in the ring.. its not pretty pooches we have in mind, its the working ability of our Jacks.
Most PRTAA judges have never even seen a fox earth. Most have never been hunting. Most, sit there and memorize the PRT standard, and claim they know their stuff. Yeah… sure… Ask any of them to tell you how to treat a bite wound, or work a locating box and collar.. they'll stare at the blankly and shrug.
The same for a lot of the AKC terrier judges. Most of them have never seen a terrier work.
Now, in the JRTCA, almost every single judge I've shown under has been out in the field.
The majority of PRTAA members have never heard the term 'under dog'. Why? Because they have none. They have no smaller dogs needed to downsize.
The PRTAA and AKC don't care how many NHC's your dog has, or if it has its Bronze Medallion. If they're shorter than 12", they justaren't a good example of a working terrier.
Every single JRTCA trial I've been to, everyone dresses in their casuals. So unlike the PRTAA and AKC's business suits.
Nor will you find a terrierperson in the JRTCA down on their knees holding their dog's tail up. Why?
"Discourage handlers from holding up tails, thuhs reducing their working terriers to show-ring poofters. Worse still, is that by holding up tails, some handlers are able to "stack" a dog, making a long back appear shorter."

but if it means anything to you, I've been showing and studying the Jack Russell Terrier before the PRT even existed. And yes, I'm a Jack Russell Terrier breeder, apart of the JRTCA.

Ah, mainly because the AKC is a big well known club (people both think of it badly (me and JRTCA people and others, or they may like the AKC. I don't) and the Prt is registered to the AKC. So, people like calling them that because it makes there dog sound more important, I suppose. Lol.
